What were you afraid of when you were younger that seems silly to you now?

I've always been a bad sleeper - god bless my parents for putting up with me as a kid who didn't really sleep. Plus, my mom says the dog used to come wake them up whenever I was up, so they probably suffered more than I did.
What used to scare me in my sleep was this loud "ka thunk ka thunk" noise that I thought was a bunch of military shells going off. (We lived right by an Army base, so this wasn't as far-fetched as it sounds.) It took me YEARS to ignore it, and even longer to figure out that the sound was my own heartbeat, which only got louder the more I held my ears.
And I still don't sleep all that well.
"When was the last time you were at a wedding that had a death defying hike, rogue waves, a luau, ultimate fighting, a presidential candidate and a budding bromance?" asks Papi Chulo. For most of us, the answer is never, but luckily, Papi Chulo and Secret Agent Scotch took the time to Vox all the amazing moments during their unforgettable Hawaiian wedding on 08.08.08 so we could all take part in the festivities.
The story began last February, when Papi Chulo popped the question and Secret Agent Scotch said yes! Since then, they've kept us in the loop about all the details, from the bride's veil to the wedding song to the final To-Do List. And throughout it all, they inspired us with their love for each other. (I'm pretty sure it doesn't get any better than knowing your future husband thinks you are The Perfect Girl.)
It's an amazing love story and we are thrilled they shared it with us. Watch the video of the ceremony and please join us in wishing Papi Chulo and Secret Agent Scotch the fairytale ending they deserve.

Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.
Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.
In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. Dear Dumbass High Schooler Who Works The Food Bar:
You SUCK.
You were hired to stand behind a register and ring people up. Not meander over five minutes after I've laid my upper body over the counter to flag you down. In a skirt none the less. When I hand over my kid's sized pizza and 3 oz salad, don't act like I've done you some horrible injustice. Also, when you ring someone up, you're suppose to tell them THE TOTAL.
Does it look like I'm a psychic? No. And when I ask you, "How much do I owe you?" don't cast your eyes downwards at the gaggle of numbers that have popped up on the register. If I could've done the Mom eyebrow, I would have given it to you. Instead, I pulled the polite card and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that-" to which you mumbled, 'elevenseventyfour."
Really? ELEVEN DOLLARS AND SEVENTY FOUR CENTS for a 3oz salad, kids pizza and two drinks? Pftt.
After I pay for this bullshit, I realized you probably skipped math class all together as it took you about a minute and a half to count me back .72 cents.
Once I got settled to eat my salad, I discovered NO dressing, so I asked you for some. Excuse me, I waited for you to finish talking to your friend about giving head to some boy who just walked in the front doors of Target. After listening to that fiasco, I asked for the dressing, to which you rolled your eyes and came back with a huge vat of ranch dressing.
Then you promptly walked away.
You know what? If you don't want to fucking work, go learn the art of blowing dudes for money while trying to avoid police detection.
Oh and your lip gloss smelled like a whore's snatch.
My bad, your friend must've burped.
